FRIDAY! I’m excited and have been looking forward to this moment since I will finally be able to create my first TikTok Top 3 post.

Indeed, when completing this challenge, I am more conscious of my “save,” and the “FOMO” feeling definitely arises, with thoughts such as “wait, what if this video makes it to my top three of the week – should I save it or skip it?” Surprisingly, I end up saving a total of 37 films with excellent material! The whole Week 1 list may be viewed here: https://vt.tiktok.com/ZSL8BUjSb/

Then comes the bit about choosing the criteria for the Top 3, I finally decide my top 3 of the week based on three categories:

(1) Emotion – videos that evoked the most emotion in me when watching them

(2) material – video with the best stuff that made me go “urg, I wish everyone knew about it”

(3) Production – video with the best production. this may act as a great reference for a future instructional design project.

So, without further ado, let’s begin:

EMOTION:

  • Creator: Border Flight

  • What’s interesting? A video of a flight attendant giving her safety speech in a super humorous manner that attracts everyone. I wish I have more time to analyze her content using the ARCS model. Seeing her enthusiasm and dedication to doing a good job made me soooo happy in and of itself.

CONTENT:

  • Creator: Kevin Liu

  • What’s interesting? In certain ways, I discovered that UX Designer and Learning/Instructional Designer have a lot in common, say, the career transition movement (UX from graphic designer; ID from teachers/graphic designers/HR), the user-centric approach or the fact that both of the roles are sometimes underrated. Kevin provides an interesting perspective on the reality that, while other expertise, such as graphic design, can accomplish many aspects of an ID job, corporations will eventually have to recruit ID. For IDs who have more than once questioned their decision to pursue the path as I had, I found this logic flow to be VERY valuable.

PRODUCTION:

  • Creator: Rijksumuseum
  • Link to content: https://vt.tiktok.com/ZSL8By33P/
  • What’s interesting? Top-notch quality of production! I love everything about this video, from the voice-over, the focus, the subtle graphic and movement, and the subtitles. This will be an excellent reference for videos aiming to explain paintings, art or anything with a great details to it.

What are your thoughts? What is your favorite content? I can’t wait to hear your take on things!
